CBC Acquires Hughes Behavioral Health Services

Expansion Planned

Community Based Care, LLC (“CBC”) acquired Hughes Behavioral Health (Hughes) on September 18th, 2015. Hughes Behavioral Health will operate independently with its current management team as a wholly owned subsidiary of Community Based Care, LLC.  Edward Hughes the founder and Executive Director of the agency is a 20 year veteran of the industry and a nationally recognized licensed Psychological Associate who will continue to work with the Hughes agency providing clinical services to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other areas of specialty.

Community Based Care, LLC is a holding company whose aim is to expand its footprint across the Intellectual and Development Disabilities (“I/DD”) market in North Carolina and surrounding states. The Company will be based in North Carolina and will be looking to aggressively grow across the state both organically and acquisitively.  Gene Rodgers, an industry veteran of over 20 years, will be augmenting the current management teams and leading the strategy and business development efforts for the Holding Company.

Mr. Hughes said, “I’m proud of the company I started in 2004 and of the valued staff, many of whom began with us in the intial days and are still with the company.” He said, “I am particularly pleased that the new owners trust existing management to grow the company’s high quality services and I personally look forward to continuing my clinical work in the field as a continuing part of Hughes Behavioral Health”

CBC will look to capitalize on the favorable industry tailwinds behind this space by allowing smaller providers in the space the opportunity to continue performing excellent clinical work while providing them with an opportunity to join a large organization with a scaled infrastructure to handle administrative issues.

Hughes Behavioral Health & mental Health Services

Founded in 2004, Hughes Behavioral Health and Mental Health Services serves intellectually or developmentally disabled adults and children and people with physical disabilities. The Company assists individuals in reaching their fullest potential and in overcoming challenges that they may face on a daily basis.

Hughes has three offices in North Carolina (Gastonia, Shelby, and Statesville) providing services and various programs for adults and children with special needs. Its services reach out to individuals from the Partners MCO catchment area.


Community Based Care, LLC

Community Based Care, LLC is a holding company formed to acquire individual agencies that provide home and community based care for the I/DD population. CBC currently has two holdings.

CBC is interested in exploring additional opportunities throughout North Carolina and surrounding states. CBC had initially acquired HomeCare Management and now with the purchase of Hughes Behavioral Health completed is working on additional opportunities. The agencies provide services to the I/DD populations, predominately through the I/DD Innovations Waiver.
